Edge Connector for Tortoise machine Modification and Wiring Instructions

Parkade Hobbies is the best place in the world to get supplies for Model Railroading. Not Just because we have a vast inventory, not just because Bob knows as much about trains as any one on the planet. No we are the best because we are the EXCLUSIVE home of our eight pin position edge connector for Circuitron Tortoise Slow Motion Switch Machines. The Edge Connector for Tortoise MachinesOur new eight pin position edge connector is our best ever! When you stop to think about how many times you've dripped hot solder on your face, or hand while crawling under the layout table to wire your tortoise machines, you know how wonderful card edge connectors really are. And to think we are the only to find our eight position edge connector for your tortoise machine. Sure you might find our 8 pin position edge connector at your local hobby shop, but they bought them from us too. Let's not even mention those hard to find 10 position edge connectors. The ones they charge extra for just to make it work with the tortoise machine. The Edge Connector for Tortoise MachinesOur 8 pin position edge connector for the Tortoise slow motion switch machine is great, solder the wires, slide it into place, you're done*. A ten pack is only $34.95, buy ten ten-packs and they are only $31.00 each. (Single Edge connectors are available at $3.74 each, but are available by phone only)

We include a free 8 pin position edge connector with every Tortoise Slow Motion Switch machine we sell. This is a great way to experience the ease of an eight pin position edge connector, for free. That's right. FREE. We didn't adjust any pricing, it is just something we thought you'd appreciate.

In brass tacks, this is what makes our edge connector the best available. Primarily, fit*. Our edge connector fits the Tortoise Slow Motion Switch Machine like a glove, even more so after a small adjustment*. Not to mention our service. Unlike some vast electronics warehouse, we are a local hobby shop with a website. Hobbies are what we do, because hobbies are what we enjoy. If you ever have a question, about anything from the edge connector, to an R/C plane, we have an answer.

*You probably noticed the * every time I mentioned fit. Well there is a reason for that. Some time ago we found that an edge connector has slipped and short circuited the tortoise machine. We've only heard of this happening once. It was in a location that was about 20 feet away from a fairly busy road. On this layout, only the edge connectors closest to the road slipped (this happened at our local model railroad club's former clubhouse). All card edge connectors are manufactured with a gap on the end for various applications, unfortunately, the Tortoise Slow Motion Switch machine is not one of those applications. This gap just happens to be big enough to allow the Tortoise Machine to slide so that it's tabs touch two slots simultaneously. Generally the friction of the edge connector is enough to prevent any slipping. However, if you are installing your edge connector in a place where it may get bumped or jostled, vibrated or moved, we recommend gluing a small piece of styrene (.080" by .060") in each end. We include enough styrene to modify all ten edge connectors in each 10-pack. We also include detailed instructions on just how to make this modification. They are also available here in .pdf format.
